WWI Battlefield Tour : The Somme
Deborah, AustraliaHello Charlotte, thank you soooo much for your help with this. We had the BEST time on our tour (even though it was a VERY small group). If & when we choose to travel again, we will most certainly be going with “Back Roads”. We also did a 1 x day Battle ground tour of the Somme, which we found absolutely fascinating and very informative.
Great guides.....very nice men who know their stuff.
Full points to Back Roads.....

Natasha and Trevor Carr, 2007 (Australians)"Just thanking you for a fantastic Somme Tour. It was one of the highlights of our trip and we will never forget it. It was exactly what we wanted. We loved the hotel and the tour guide was so amazing. She had so much knowledge and stories to tell. We all learnt so much! She was amazing and we all enjoyed her company! All the best and hope to be back soon. "

Karen and David Pollack 2009. The Somme Battlefields Tour. Please pass on to Jeff our heart felt thanks for giving us a most memorable and heart stirring tour of the WW1 Battlefields. It was for us a tough insight into what went on during 1914-1918, made even better by Jeff who certainly knew his history. Thanks once again, it is a trip that will live with us always.
The Somme
Jeff Hill (April 2010) Thanks again for all the arrangements for The Somme tour on April 11. Your very experienced leader, Geoff, did a very nice job and was well assisted by Chris, who I understand is in preparation to lead the tours himself. The tour was extremely well designed and I could not be happier with what I was able to see.
Thanks again and best regards.
The Somme
Kind regards Diana, Australia (April 2010) I just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our tour on 20 March. Our guide was very knowledgeable and brought the whole scene to life for us. It was also a very moving moment when we visited Gommecourt to see my uncle's grave. He was the brother my late mother never met and just before she passed away last year, I told her that we would go to France to visit. So getting there was as much for her as it was for me.

Best Regards Richard Bates - The Somme 2010 Just a brief e-mail to thank you so much for arranging our recent one day trip to the Somme Battlefields. It was a memorable day and one of the highlights of our trip overseas.
The weather on the day was perfect, our guide Geoff. was witty, informative and nothing was a trouble. (I got the impression that he gets on well with the Aussies? But who doesn't?)
The countryside was beautiful and the memorials immaculate. A glorious tribute to people of all nationalities. But saddened by the fact that so many people died in the conflict. However I felt that there was a wonderful feeling of peace and tranquillity surrounding the area.
But was again thank you both for all your extra efforts in arranging the trip. It was greatly appreciated by both of us.
