2005 marks the 200th
Anniversary of Admiral Horatio Nelson's great victory at the
Battle of Trafalgar.
We are running a
series of special five-day mini-tours to celebrate this event
and to discover something about the greatest sailor ever produced
by Britain. The tour will certainly appeal to anyone who enjoyed
the film 'Master and Commander' or read the books of Patrick
O'Brien or E M Forester's Hornblower. It will also appeal to
those with an interest in learning something about the Napoleonic
Wars.
This tour will be
run June/July/August/September & October 2005. Amongst
other highlights, the tour will feature Nelson's birthplace
museum, the magnificent Chatham Historic Dockyard, a tour of
London's Nelson and Naval sites, Nelson's own 'Victory' and
other famed ships exhibited at Portsmouth, the 18th century
shipbuilding yard at Buckler's Hard, and a tour of maritime
Greenwich.
There will be a
number of special festivals to commemorate Trafalgar and we're
awaiting notification of festival dates to be included in this
itinerary. As the battle
itself was in October we are anticipating that demand will be
high for this date so apply now if you'd like to be placed on
a waiting list and be first to receive the full itinerary details.
